Time to shake off the Winter Blues

and get back to Your Magic

Lately, it seems like many people feel they are in a bit of a Magical Funk.

Though normal for this time of year, it does seem a bit more intense than usual.

A few things that may be contributing to this level of intensity are:

  • This past Winter did seem crazy long. Cabin Fever is a real thing.

  • Concerns about financial security for ourselves and loved ones.

  • The precariousness of the US's current political environment.

All of these things, as well as daily tasks, can pile on and become overwhelming quite quickly. We get stuck in a mode where all planning goes out the window, and we're shooting from the hip at anything that comes next. How do we combat it and get back to our Magic? Magic, that source flame that sits in the middle of your essence - Your YOU. Life will sometimes get in the way of us feeling that spark. We need to pay attention to it, and pay attention to ourselves to get it burning brightly again. I have a few ideas that may help. Take what you need and make it your own:

  • Breathe. Take time for You. Light some candles and soak in the tub. Meditate.

  • Get off the couch and put your feet against the Earth. One of the wonderful things that the Earth does for us is absorb our negativity, cleanse it and release it back to us as pure, positive energy. Feel that energy exchange.

Bring nature inside. Adopt a potted plant and tend to it.

  • Go out where the people are. Share smiles. Say "hello" and "thank you" to the cashier. Compliment someone's shoes. Human interaction is a NECESSITY. Scientific studies have given us proof of this. We can not survive without it. These small gestures of kindness can make a world of difference, for you and for someone else. They don't hurt, and they get easier every time.

  • Schedule. Don't try to take on everything at once. Prioritize. Even your thoughts. Write it down if you have to. When you prioritize and tackle one thing at a time, you will feel extremely accomplished at the end of the day when you see all the things you've checked off of your list. If anything didn't get done, it's OK, you started with the high priority, and anything not checked off can be done tomorrow.

  • Clean and rearrange the furniture in your home. Paint an accent wall in your living room. Changing things up gives us a difference perspective on things and can provide some clarification.

  • Make a new altar, for YOU. Some things you can include: your favorite picture of you, a stuffed toy from your childhood, certificates or medals that you've earned, the bottle of perfume or cologne that makes you feel amazing. Use a cloth that's your favorite color. There are no rules, just make sure that you celebrate you. Remind yourself that you deserve it.

Many of these sound so mundane, right? Well, They Are.

As Above - So Below

This means that what we do in our mundane lives mirrors our spiritual lives. And vice-versa. When we take care of ourselves in our everyday life, it shows in our spiritual side. When our mundane, everyday self comes back in alignment, so will our Spiritual self. You'll see your flame brighten and grow stronger each day.
